Serving

You can have 3 cups worth of this mix and it will count as your carb, fat, and protein servings.

Ingredients

  1. Noodles of choice (carbs)
  2. Extra lean ground beef OR turkey (protein and fat)
  3. Turkey sausage (protein and fat)
  4. 2 cans of sauce
  5. Olive oil
  6. Salt and pepper or Italian seasoning (optional)

Notes

If you noticed above when I listed the ingredients I mention that the ground beef and sausage will count as fat and protein. Why? Because sausage and red meat have higher contents of fat. IF you decide to not use the sausage and replace your ground beef with ground turkey you then can have a fat serving which could be parmesan cheese ;). If you like you can also add a serving of your favorite veggies to your dish. How many times could you have this? On a cheat day :) or 2-3x a month. Once again if you use ground turkey and no sausage you can have this meal many more times throughout the month due to the fact that you are not consuming red meat.

Here is an image of the ingredients I used. Best part is that the 2 pound of extra lean ground beef was 25% off.

You will cut your turkey sausage and cook. I cooked each side for about 3 minutes. You do not need to add any oil to pan because the sausage will release oil/fats.

You will then set them aside. I love to put them on top of a paper towel so it soaks up any oil/fat that comes out of sausage when cooked.

You will then bring water to a boil, drizzle some vegetable oil (or oil of choice) to your pot, and add the entire packet of desired noodles. I add oil to the water so the noodles do not stick when they are done and I drain.

While your noodles cook you can begin to cook your ground beef. I added some non stick spray to my pan just to make sure the ground beef would not stick.

As you can see once the extra lean ground beef is thoroughly cooked it will release a lot of water/fat. you want to make sure you drain this liquid before adding your sauce. I use a strainer and then I add meat back to my pan.
